New Delhi [India], August 23 (ANI): The Rohini District Police arrested 103 people and recovered 161 stolen two-wheelers during a four-day special drive, 'Operation Chapamari Chakravyuh', conducted from August 18 to 21, officials said on Sunday.

The operation was launched to curb vehicle theft, drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the district.

Speaking to ANI, Rohini DCP Shashank Jaiswal said police also recovered illegal firearms, narcotics, cash, illicit liquor and stolen mobile phones, besides busting an illegal call centre.

"During the operation, we recovered 161 stolen two-wheelers. Illegal weapons were also seized from criminals. Heroin worth approximately Rs 10 crore was recovered. Stolen mobile phones and illicit liquor were also confiscated. An illegal call centre was busted, and 103 people were arrested," the DCP said.

During the drive, police verified more than 5,000 vehicles and recovered 116 motorcycles and 45 scooters.

In an anti-narcotics action, police seized 686 grams of heroin and arrested two alleged suppliers in connection with a case registered at Begumpur police station. The wider investigation has so far led to the recovery of 1,764 grams of heroin, Rs 1.55 lakh in cash and a car.

The police also seized seven illegal firearms, including a Brazilian-made Taurus pistol and six country-made pistols, along with 15 live cartridges and nine button-operated knives.

Under the Excise Act, 13 alleged bootleggers were arrested, and 2,990 quarters of illicit liquor were recovered. In separate gambling raids, 21 people were arrested in 11 cases, and Rs 13,960 in stake money was seized.

The operation also led to the apprehension of seven alleged cyber fraudsters and five proclaimed offenders, while an illegal call centre was busted.

Of the 103 people arrested or detained, 24 were identified as history-sheeters, police said.

The operation was supervised by Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Singh, along with other senior officers. A total of 16 dedicated teams comprising 277 police personnel were deployed during the special drive. (ANI)
