Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 23 (ANI): A large 'Jan Aakrosh Rally' was organised in Jaipur on Sunday to raise concerns over the preservation of the historic walled city's heritage and the continued migration of residents from the area.
Organised by Yuva Shakti Manch Rajasthan, the rally commenced from Khole Ke Hanuman Ji and saw participation from a large number of people from Jaipur and surrounding areas. Around 2,100 women led the procession.

According to the organisers, nearly 10,000 two-wheelers and around 500 four-wheelers participated in the rally.
The procession passed through several parts of Jaipur before concluding at Albert Hall. Participants raised concerns over the changing character of the historic walled city and urged the government and administration to take concrete steps to safeguard its cultural and architectural heritage.

The protesters also highlighted the continued migration of residents from the walled city, calling for measures to improve basic amenities, security and employment opportunities in the area.
"Jaipur's historic identity and the heritage of the walled city are a matter of pride for all of us. Through this Jan Aakrosh Rally, we want to draw the attention of the government and administration towards the continued migration from the walled city and the urgent need to protect its heritage. We demand concrete and effective measures to preserve Jaipur's historical legacy. The participation of 2,100 women in leading the rally sends a strong message that women are equally committed to protecting Jaipur's heritage," Rajasthan Yuva Manch State Convenor Sunil Singh Shekhawat told ANI.
Rajasthan Yuva Manch General Secretary Gauri Shankar Porwal said that the walled city is not merely a historic area but an important symbol of Rajasthan's cultural identity.
"Jaipur's walled city is not just a historic area; it represents the culture and identity of Rajasthan. The continued migration of residents is a serious concern. The government should strengthen basic facilities, security and employment opportunities so that people are not compelled to leave their ancestral homes. Through this rally, we are demanding a concrete policy for the preservation and development of the walled city while ensuring that its historical character is protected," Porwal told ANI.
The organisers said Jaipur's heritage is an integral part of Rajasthan's cultural legacy and called for sustained government intervention along with greater public participation for its protection.
They urged the authorities to adopt long-term measures to preserve the walled city's heritage while ensuring its development without compromising its historical character. (ANI)
