Mumbai, Jan 23 (PTI) A state-level athletics meet will be held under flood lights here on January 25 and 26, in which over 600 participants from various disciplines are likely to take part.

The competition will be held in about 77 track and field events for boys and girls in the under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 age categories, it was announced.

The organisers will also conduct mixed (boys and girls) relay team races.

Talking to reporters, renowned coach V Govind Bal, who has produced several national and international athletes, said, "Cooler evening weather conditions will ensure better performances which could result in better timings."

Over 600 entries from 40 schools, colleges and clubs have been received so far and athletes from Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Latur, Satara, Kolhapur will be seen vying for top podium finishes, the organisers said.

The meet has been organised by 'Trackblazers Sports Academy' in association with the Mumbai Suburban Athletics Association (MSDAA) at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) synthetic athletics tracks in suburban Kandivili.
