Seoul, March 25: Kia has officially launched the EV2, its most affordable electric vehicle to date, with a starting price of EUR 26,600. Positioned as a compact urban SUV, the EV2 marks the sixth model to be built on the company’s dedicated E-GMP platform. The global launch is part of Kia’s broader strategy to make electric mobility accessible to a wider consumer base through more competitively priced entry-level models.
The vehicle features a boxy, rugged silhouette that mirrors the design language of Kia’s larger electric SUVs. Its exterior is defined by a modern "tiger face" front end, vertically stacked split LED headlamps, and extensive body cladding. The rear design maintains a minimalist aesthetic with low-mounted tail lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler. 2027 Honda City Facelift Spied Testing Ahead of Launch; Check Expected Features and Specifications. 2027 Honda City Facelift Spied Testing Ahead of Launch; Check Expected Features and Specifications.
Kia EV 2 Interior and Connectivity Features
Inside the cabin, the Kia EV2 adopts a high-tech layout inspired by the brand's recent internal combustion engine models. The dashboard is dominated by a triple-screen interface, consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment, and a dedicated 5.3-inch panel for climate controls.
The SUV also introduces several premium features to the compact segment, including a Harman Kardon audio system and Digital Key 2.0. Practicality is enhanced by a four-seater configuration option with sliding and reclining rear seats, which increases boot capacity to 403 litres. The standard five-seater variant offers 362 litres of storage, supplemented by a 15-litre front trunk (frunk).
Kia EV 2 Battery and Range
Kia is offering the EV2 with two distinct battery pack options to suit different driving needs. The entry-level version features a 42.2 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a WLTP-certified range of 317 km. This variant is designed primarily for urban commuting where cost-efficiency is a priority.
For users requiring more range, the Long Range variant is equipped with a 61.0 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery. This configuration delivers up to 448 km on a single charge. Both battery types support DC fast charging, capable of replenishing the power from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Manufacturing for the standard range EV2 is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026. Following the initial rollout, Kia plans to introduce the Long Range and performance-oriented GT-Line variants in June 2026. The vehicle also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies, allowing it to act as a mobile power source. While the EV2 is a significant addition to Kia’s global portfolio, the company has not yet confirmed a specific launch timeline for the Indian market. However, industry analysts suggest it could eventually serve as a key competitor in India’s growing entry-level luxury EV segment if local assembly or production is considered.
