Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up for the launch of its next big product in the domestic market. Codenamed as XL6 Crossover, the vehicle will be based on Maruti's popular MPV - Ertiga. The Indo-Japanese car maker is rumoured to launch the all-new XL6 Crossover in India on August 21, 2019. However, there seems to be no confirmation regarding the same. Ahead of its India debut, the automaker has officially released the design sketches of the vehicle. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG Variants Launched in India From Rs 8.8 Lakh.

According to the marker reports, the auto maker will sell the brand new model through its premium dealership chain - NEXA instead of Arena network.

Going by the sketches, the upcoming Maruti XL6 will carry a refreshed design highlighted by a new grille at the front. The overall design appeal of the vehicle will be underlined by chunky roof-rails and plastic claddings. The vehicle will also sport redesigned headlight cluster featuring black inserts along with new LED DRLs.

Moving to the interior, the overall cabin appeal of the vehicle will be very much identical to that of Ertiga. Moreover, the leaked spy-shots confirm that the new XL6 Crossover will be a six-seater vehicle. As far as the powerhouse is concerned, Maruti Suzuki XL6 will share the same with Ertiga - 1.5-litre K15 petrol and 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel. Transmission duties are likely to be carried out by 5-speed Manual as standard along with 4-speed automatic gearbox. It is also believed that the petrol mill could be a BS6 compliant as the new norms kicks in by April 2020. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be phased out once the new BS6 norms are in effect.

Talking about the design of the car, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out the next level of excitement with the XL6, a premium MPV, at NEXA showrooms across the country. Apart from the space and functionality that the customers desire for, the all new XL6 offers a blend of sporty design and premium interiors, which will help it in establishing its niche in the MPV segment.”
