Mercedes-Benz has officially announced that the highly anticipated GLC Electric will launch in India on November 4, 2026, with official bookings set to open next month. The luxury electric SUV will be locally assembled at the manufacturer Chakan facility in Pune, marking the fastest global rollout of a locally assembled vehicle by the brand in the country just six months after its European market debut.
As per a report by Autocar India, the vehicle will be introduced in the 400 4Matic specification. This local assembly strategy is expected to position the model competitively within the domestic luxury vehicle segment, providing buyers with an advanced zero-emission alternative ahead of the festive period. The luxury model features a refined exterior design that steps away from polarising futuristic shapes, incorporating a large rounded-edge grille with illuminated elements, star-shaped LED DRLs, and projector headlights. The side profile maintains clean lines complemented by up to 21-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitting door handles, while the rear showcases connected star-shaped LED taillights and a solid 3D badge.

The international specification coming to India packs a 94kWh battery paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. This configuration produces a combined 490hp and 800Nm of torque, allowing the 2.5-tonne SUV to sprint from zero to 100kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds.
For long-distance travel, the model delivers a WLTP-claimed driving range of up to 715km on a single charge. It also supports high-speed 330kW DC charging, which can replenish up to 300km of range in just 10 minutes, alongside a 22kW AC home charging capability for everyday convenience.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle highlights a massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that integrates the digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and passenger display into a single curved panel. Powered by the fourth-generation MBUX interface, it incorporates a built-in AI assistant while retaining physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console. The interior offers a five-seat layout with generous legroom, heated and ventilated seats with massage functions, and a spacious 570-litre boot alongside a 128-litre front trunk.
