MG Motors India finally launched the eagerly awaited MG Hector premium SUV in the country that is priced from Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is important to note that the India prices for MG Hector SUV are introductory. The car maker also revealed at the launch event that it has received around 10,000 pre-bookings for the SUV prior to the launch. Speaking on the lines of deliveries, the company mentioned that the same will commence in coming days. Priced competitively in the mid-sized SUV space, the new MG Hector SUV is offered in 4 trim levels. To give more insight about the SUV, we pit it against the arch rival - Tata Harrier. MG Hector vs Tata Harrier - Dimensions: Dimensionally, the MG Hector comes with length of 4655 mm, width of 1835 mm and height of 1760 mm. The wheelbase of the SUV stands at 2750 mm. On the other hand, Tata Harrier measures 4598mm in length, 1894 mm in width and 1706 mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance of the SUV stands at 2741 mm and 205 mm respectively.

MG Hector vs Tata Harrier - Engine Specifications: On the mechanical front, MG Hector comes in three powertrain options - 1.5-litre petrol, 2.0-litre diesel and mild-hybrid version. The regular petrol mill and petrol hybrid make 143PS of power with 250Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel unit develops 170PS and 350Nm of power figures. Both petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox whereas petrol hybrid gets dual-clutch transmission. Tata Harrier comes powered by a BS-6 compliant Kryotec 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 140PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

MG Hector vs Tata Harrier - Prices: As far as the prices are concerned, the base version of MG Hector SUV (Style) is priced from Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom India). The India prices for the mid-variants (Super & Smart) start at Rs 12.98 lakh and Rs 14.68 lakh (All Prices Ex-showroom India). The top-spec model of MG Hector (Sharp) is priced up to Rs 16.88 lakh (Ex-showroom). Tata Harrier, on the other hand, gets a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh for the XE variant. The XM and XT variants can be bought at Rs 14.05 lakh & 15.25 lakh. The top-of-the-line variant - XZ will cost Rs 16.55 lakh (All Prices Ex-showroom Delhi).
