New Delhi, Nov 29: Swedish carmaker Volvo and Swedish communication services company Ericsson on Thursday signed a deal to let industrialised Ericsson Connected Vehicle Cloud (CVC) platform enable the carmaker's digital vehicle services in over global 120 markets for the next five years.

The deal is aimed at enabling Volvo Cars to provide car owners and drivers with its latest developments in connected car digital services such as automation, fleet management, telematics, navigation and infotainment. "Ericsson is providing a highly scalable and global platform for connected services to Volvo Cars. By removing complexity in areas such as data legislation and storage management, our platform enhances the user experience of Volvo Cars' connected services," Asa Tamsons, Head of Business Area Technologies and New Businesses, Ericsson, said in a statement.

Delivered via geographically distributed centres, Ericsson's CVC platform takes full account of legal, security and privacy obligations on a global scale.

"Our Ericsson Connected Vehicle Cloud platform will result in rapid innovation and faster launch of new services to the benefit of Volvo Cars' partners and customers. The new platform enables the latest development in telematics, infotainment, navigation, automation and fleet management," Tamsons added.

Ericsson CVC meets Volvo Cars' high services and applications availability and stability expectations, thus, allowing the carmaker to focus on the value creation of connected vehicle digital customer experiences, the company added.
