Banks across India will remain closed on Saturday, September 12, 2026, as it is the second Saturday of the month, a day designated as a mandatory bank holiday under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules. Why Banks Are Closed

The closure also feeds directly into the weekend, with banks shut on Sunday, September 13, for the regular weekly off. In several states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana, the holiday period extends further into Monday, September 14, on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.

As a result, customers in these states could see banks closed for up to four consecutive days, and are advised to plan any urgent branch-related banking work in advance while relying on online and mobile banking services for routine transactions during the holiday period.
