Labelled as one of the most excellent actors in India, Amitabh Bachchan continues to rule the Hindi film industry. Big B has been a phenomenon for more than four decades, and at 76 today, he is still making films that excite and surprise audience not just in India, but around the world. As it is October 11, social media is filled with different hashtags celebrating megastar’s birthday. The elder son of poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan had made his presence in 1971 with Anand as a quiet and serious doctor against the peppier, Rajesh Khanna. And there was never looking back. Be it as the ‘angry young man’ in Zanjeer or as the eccentric father in Piku, throughout his journey, Bachchan’s enthusiasm remains the same. And Pattnaik’s sand art says it all. With four National Film Awards, 15 Filmfare Awards, Padma Shri in 1984, Padma Bhushan in 2001, Padma Vibhushan in 2015, Big B’s remarkable contribution has given a new trajectory to the Hindi film industry. His years of being down and out had imparted him humility and with it, empathy. Bachchan will soon be seen in many movies such as Thugs of Hindostan which is scheduled to hit the screen in Diwali this year, Brahmastra, Shoebite and Badla among others.
