Social media platforms have been inundated with enthusiastic reactions, with many fans interpreting the actors' playful exchange as a definitive confirmation of a third film. User comments range from declarations like “The all-time greatest Indian movie's third instalment Baahubali 3 is now official” to expressions of “Goosebumps stuff followed by #Baahubali3 announcement from the Baahubali himself.”
Despite the overwhelming fan anticipation, it's important to note that an official announcement regarding Baahubali 3 as a feature film, particularly with SS Rajamouli at the helm, is still pending. Rajamouli, the visionary director behind Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), is currently engrossed with his next directorial venture, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is slated for an April 7, 2027, release.
The Baahubali franchise, produced by ARKA Media Works, redefined Indian cinema with its grand scale, compelling storytelling, and groundbreaking visuals, propelling Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty to pan-India stardom. The first two films collectively grossed over ₹2,400 crore worldwide.
The Continuing ‘Baahubali’ Legacy
Even a decade after its initial release, the Baahubali universe continues to expand. In a move to celebrate its enduring impact, a remastered, single-film version titled Baahubali: The Epic (225 minutes) was re-released in cinemas on October 30, 2025. This combined feature, including never-before-seen footage and technical enhancements, garnered approximately INR 45 crore (USD 5.07 million) worldwide and INR 24.35 crore nett in India.
Furthermore, an animated sequel, Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1, is already in the pipeline, slated for release in 2027, and is planned as a two-part film. Directed by Ishan Shukla, SS Rajamouli himself discussed plans for this animated project at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2026, where he also talked about expanding the Baahubali universe.
