Bollywood music composer Sajid Khan, of the celebrated Sajid-Wajid duo, narrowly escaped a serious injury on Monday after a powerful shot sent a cricket ball flying directly toward him during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The composer, who was seated in the stands supporting the Punjab Kings, sustained minor scratches and swelling but avoided severe impact by jumping out of the way at the last moment. IPL 2026 Viral Video: Preity Zinta and Shreyas Iyer Seen in Serious Discussion After Punjab Kings’ 6th Straight Loss (Watch).

Following the incident, Sajid shared a video on social media detailing the close call while wearing a Punjab Kings jersey. In the clip, bandages were visible on his forearm and leg as he explained how a fast-moving ball forced him to make a split-second decision.

According to the composer, he initially spotted the ball coming his way and stood up from his seat, intending to catch it. However, his left foot became caught in the chair, disrupting his balance and leaving him vulnerable as the ball headed directly for his face.

"I thought, ‘I have the catch,’" Sajid explained in the video. "But I was sitting on the chair, so my left foot got stuck. I became crooked, and the ball was in front of my face."

Sajid credited his quick reflexes for preventing a much worse outcome, opting to dive out of the way. "I said, ‘Don’t think. Just jump.’ Jumping won’t hurt so much as the ball hitting my head or my chest. It’s not a big injury... It’s a little swollen, but your brother is strong."

The ball ultimately struck a metal rod near his seat with enough force to tear the ball's outer casing, underscoring the severity of the impact.

Preity Zinta Checks on Composer's Well-being

Punjab Kings co-owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who was seated beside Sajid during the match, immediately rushed to check on him. Witnessing the dangerous trajectory of the ball and his subsequent fall, Zinta anxiously asked, "Are you okay?" to ensure the composer had not sustained serious trauma.

Addressing viral videos of the incident and lighthearted reactions online, Sajid noted that while some fans were making fun of his tumble, the situation was genuinely frightening. "If you guys were there, your air would have become tight," he joked, expressing gratitude to his followers for their concern.

Sajid-Wajid's IPL Connection

Sajid Khan’s association with the IPL extends beyond being a spectator. Alongside his late brother Wajid Khan, the duo famously composed the official theme song for IPL Season 4, titled "Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka," which featured vocals by Wajid.

The brothers established themselves as prominent figures in the Indian music industry after debuting with Salman Khan’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. They went on to score numerous successful Bollywood soundtracks, particularly for Salman Khan's major releases, as well as Sonu Nigam's hit 1999 album DeewaanaPBKS Playoffs Scenario After Defeat Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 Match.

Sajid has continued to work in the industry following the tragic passing of Wajid Khan, who died in 2020 at the age of 42 due to a cardiac arrest.
