Two men, identified as Anas and Shoaib, have also been named in the FIR. Police said the allegations are under investigation and no conclusions have been reached.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly extorted money from the complainant over an extended period before demanding an additional INR 2 lakh, prompting him to approach the police. Who is Influencer Arisha?
Arisha is a social media influencer who reportedly has over one lakh followers on Instagram. Beyond her social media presence, police have not officially disclosed further personal details about her.
She has now been named in an FIR filed in Sambhal following allegations of honey-trapping, blackmail and extortion. The allegations remain under investigation, and her response to the accusations has not been made public. What does the complaint allege?
The complainant, Mohammad Shahrukh, a resident of Chaudhary Sarai in Sambhal, alleged that he first met Arisha during a trip to Nainital around three years ago. He claimed they initially connected through Instagram before meeting in person while visiting the hill station with their respective companions.
According to Shahrukh, their friendship later developed into a relationship, during which Arisha allegedly obtained his objectionable photographs and videos.
He alleged that after some time, Arisha, along with Anas and Shoaib, began threatening to upload the private content on social media and implicate him in false cases unless he paid money.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly extorted INR 55,000 by threatening to circulate his private photographs and videos.
Shahrukh further alleged that on July 1, 2023, both parties signed a settlement on stamp paper, under which Arisha allegedly admitted that earlier allegations made against him were false. However, he claimed the alleged blackmail resumed later.
The complainant alleged that Arisha, along with Anas and Shoaib, again demanded INR 2 lakh while threatening to leak the photographs and videos. He also claimed to have paid nearly INR 4 lakh over time and submitted screenshots of financial transactions and conversations to the police as evidence.
Fresh threats alleged after FIR
In his complaint, Shahrukh further alleged that after the FIR was registered, he began receiving fresh threats and abusive messages.
He also claimed that posts targeting him were being uploaded on social media and alleged that the accused were part of a larger racket that honey-traps men and extorts money by exploiting fears of public embarrassment. These allegations have not been independently verified by the police.
Police investigation underway
Confirming the case, local cop Sudhir Panwar said police registered an FIR based on the complainant's allegations.
"A man approached the police alleging that a woman and a few others were blackmailing him and demanding money. An FIR has been registered on the basis of his complaint. The allegations are being investigated, and further legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence," the officer said.
Police said efforts are underway to trace Arisha and the two other accused. Officials added that the allegations made in the complaint are being verified and that the role of all those named in the FIR will be examined before further legal action is taken.
