After delivering a hit in the form of Pink, Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu's jodi is back with a bang. Their latest release Badla has got cash registers ringing and how! The Sujoy Ghosh directorial which came out on March 8, garnered rave reviews from the critics but got off to a slow start at the box office on day 1. However, the crime thriller picked up and ended up faring exceptionally well over the first weekend. Now Badla is all set to enter the Rs 50 crore club at the domestic box office. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and announced the updated figures. He wrote, "#Badla refuses to slow down... Maintains a solid grip on Day 6... Admirable trending on weekdays demonstrates the power of solid content... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 8.55 cr, Sun 9.61 cr, Mon 3.75 cr, Tue 3.85 cr, Wed 3.55 cr. Total: ₹ 34.35 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 40.53 cr."
Apart from minting money in India, Badla has also done good business in the international territories as well. In the opening weekend, Big B and Pannu's film raked in Rs 11.96 crore at the overseas box office which is indeed impressive. Also, what's commendable is the fact that Badla released alongside Hollywood superhero flick Captain Marvel but it still found a strong holding at the ticket windows. Apart from Taapsee and Senior Bachchan, Ghosh's directorial venture also features Amrita Singh, Malayalam actor Tony Luke, Manav Kaul, and Tanveer Ghani. The highly appreciated crime thriller is inspired by the Spanish film The Invisible Guest.
