Yes, Karan Johar is foraying into horror genre something that Dharma Productions isn't associated with yet. Starring Vicky Kaushal Bhoot-Part One: The Haunted Ship will hit the screens on November 15 this year and it's based on real incidents. While the title instantly reminds you of Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot that starred Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar, Karan was keen on retaining it for his own production. Helmed by debutant director, Bhanu Pratap Singh, this movie will be a stepping stone of a horror franchise produced under K Jo's banner. Vicky Kaushal And Bhumi Pednekar's Upcoming Horror Film Produced By Karan Johar is Set on A Ship.

Since Karan and RGV share a rather rocky equation, was the latter apprehensive about giving away his title to him? Well, surprisingly no. Karan in his recent interaction with Bombay Times revealed how the Company director was, in fact, more than willing to let go of it. “I made an unreasonable request to Ramu, asking him for his franchise title BHOOT and he graciously and magnanimously agreed to give it to us without even blinking an eyelid. All of us at Dharma are blown away by his generosity and are eternally grateful to him. We aspire to make sure the title is in the right hands of horror," Karan saidAkshay Kumar Out, Vicky Kaushal in LOL: Land Of Lungi?

Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan will debut as a producer with this horror drama. Speaking about the same to DNA, he said, “The intent is to create a series. We’re looking at making more authentic films, even horror comedies. Bhanu and I have discussed a few ideas. It’s an exciting time to take the franchise ahead.” The project does sound interesting and we can't wait to experience the horror quotient in it. Bollywood as an industry is slowly warming itself to horror dramas that are authentic and more than mere jump scares. Hopefully, Bhoot-Part One: The Haunted Ship will sail its course in the right direction.
