The buzz for the Filmfare awards and its anticipation has already hit the ground. While on one hand, fans are wondering who will win the awards, few names have popped a turmoil of resentment. We are talking about the Sanju filmmaker Raju Hirani, who landed in troubled waters, after he was accused of repeated sexual assault by a woman who worked on the same film. The director has been nominated in the Best Director category at the upcoming Filmfare Awards for Sanju.

The nominations were announced last evening, and Sanju has managed to attract six entries from the major categories, including the Best Film and Best Director category. Filmfare has not officially revealed the jury members, but have stated that the decision has been made after considering the audience polling and critic experts.

The filmmaker had been maintaining a low profile since a report about the allegations was published in HuffPost India. He slowly started making public appearances and a few weeks ago, he was even spotted in Switzerland, along with other B-town friends, attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta.

HuffPost India had published a story based on an email complaint that woman working on Sanju sent to the film’s producer, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In her interview, the woman complained that she was intimidated by Raju, who was her boss at the time. She revealed that she suffered a great deal to conceal the director’s actions towards her and maintain a mask of normalcy as her father was suffering from a terminal illness, and she desperately needed to hold on to her job.

This led to the removal of Raju’s name from the credits of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, a film he had co-produced. However, some other Bollywood celebrities also took a stand for the industry’s most successful commercial filmmaker.
