A biopic on the life of Nobel laureate Mother Teresa is in the works now and the makers have officially announced the details. The film will be written and directed by Seema Upadhya. Reports suggest that the film will have an ensemble cast of Bollywood as well as international actors. One of the key steps needed to green signal this film was getting permissions and now the biopic has received clearance from Sister Prema Mary Pierick who currently heads the Missionaries of charity.

The film is being produced by Girish Johar, Pradeep Sharma, Nitin Manmohan and Prachi Manmohan. Sharing the big news on Twitter, producer Girish Johar wrote, "Proud NEW journey...🙏🏻🙂... Official biopic on nobel laureate #MotherTeresa launched, produced by Pradeep Sharma, Nitin Manmohan, Girish Johar & @Prachinm. Written-Directed by Seema Upadhyay. Cast-Crew comprises top talent pools of Bollywood & Hollywood."

The film's casting is yet to be finalised and the film is expected to go on the floors by the end of this year. The film has been slated for release in 2020.
