Much-hyped horror supernatural-thriller Pari starring Anushka Sharma released this Friday on March 2, 2018. But the Holi release has failed to attract audiences to the theatres collecting just about Rs 4 crore on an opening day. Box office report of Pari on day one reflects the mixed response the film has received from the critics who though praised performances but were not too happy with the screenplay and director’s Prosit Roy attempt at infusing too many elements. The film made on an estimated budget of Rs 30 crores will have to rely on positive word of mouth to make an impact at the box office.

According to the Box Office India website, Pari got off to a slow start earning Rs 4 crore nett. Meanwhile, trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted Pari's BO collection on Day 1 to be Rs 4.36 crore.  Anushka who is also the film’s producer in addition to portraying the lead would be slightly worried about opening day BO collection considering it was released on a holiday. Pari’s day one collection has edged past her second production Phillauri’s collection of Rs 3.5 - 3.75 crores by a slight margin.

The film releasing in 1565 screens worldwide (India: 1400 screens and Overseas: 165 screens) was expected to fare better in terms of earnings, especially with so much thought put into the marketing and promotions of the film. The film had an occupancy of 10 -12 %, which is definitely not a good sign. However, it is too early to reach out to a conclusion (Pari needs to collect Rs 40 crore to become a hit film) with trade experts hoping the film to see a jump on the weekend.

Apart from Anushka Sharma, Pari’s cast includes Parambrata Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Rajat Kapoor and Mansi Multani. The A-listed actress and producer have received rave reviews for her mind-boggling performance as eerie lead named Rukhsana. It is to be seen if the gorgeous actress in her spine-chilling avatar manages to pull her fans to the crowd or repel them with spookiness.

Pari had negligible competition from another new release Veerey Ki Wedding starring Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda who failed miserably on its first day. The film registered 5 percent occupancy with its box office collection reading something around Rs 75 lakhs. The film which can trouble Pari's progress at the box office is director Luv Ranjan's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that has collected Rs 50 crores and already declared a Super Hit.
