2018 has seen some incredible movies in Bollywood and also not so incredible ones! With the awards seasons beginning with the recently concluded Star Screen Awards we can see some of our favourite movies and performances being lauded for the year. Some of the popular picks among the actors have been Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in Padmaavat, Ayushmann Khurrana in AndhaDhun, Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta in Badhaai Ho, Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju, Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi in Stree and so on! Star Screen Awards 2018 Full List of Winners: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao Win Coveted Trophies.

And then, there are also some really disappointing performances. That too, from actors whom we had truly high hopes from. In this special year ender feature, we look at 15 such performances in 2018 that were a total letdown, considering the talent channelling them. They were either saddled with bad scripts or directors, or were plain bad, we really don't know. But there is no excuse for these disappointing acts. Anushka Sharma's Pari, Vicky Kaushal's Love Per Square Foot, Manoj Bajpayee's Gali Guleiyan - 11 Overlooked Movies of 2018 That Deserved Your Attention.

Karan Johar in Welcome To New York

Karan Johar is a good director, even if he makes sappy movies like Student of the Year at times. But a good actor he is not, and yet some film-makers insist on bringing him in the front of the camera, despite the debacle of Bombay Velvet. In this two-hour-long torturous advert for IIFA, Karan Johar has not one but two roles to torture the little audience the movie had managed to lure in. Sure, there are a couple of fun moments when he pokes fun at his real self, but that doesn't take away from the fact that his performance totally sucks!

Disha Patani in Baaghi 2

Disha Patani was just about okay in her debut, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, where she had a brief role. Baaghi 2 is her first proper Bollywood lead but she doesn't invoke high confidence in the viewers with a very bland act. Disha feels miscast as a mother of a little girl and her performance is so listless that even Tiger Shroff feels like a National Award winner. Sorry to say, but many sighed a breathe of relief when her character dies near the interval.

Manoj Bajpayee in Missing/Satyameva Jayate

It has been a very strange year for Manoj Bajpayee. He gave two incredible performances in Gali Gueliyan and Love Sonia. And he also gave two very hammy performances in Missing and Satyameva Jayate. Surprisingly the former was his home production, and the latter pitted him against John Abraham, and yet it was Abrahan who turned out to be the better performer there.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Fanney Khan

Aishwarya Rai's comeback to cinema hasn't been really great for the actress. She was not too great in Jazbaa and Sarbjit. In Fanney Khan, she was very much miscast as the popular rockstar. giving a forgettable performance and her chemistry with Rajkummar Rao was non-existent.

Patralekhaa in Nanu Ki Jaanu

Patralekhaa had given a fine performance in her debut, CityLights. But she hasn't given a really good account of herself as a performer after that. In Nanu Ki Jaanu, she played a ghost saddled with very brief screentime and extremely bad lines.

Sonam Kapoor in Veere Di Wedding

Sonam Kapoor was really good in PadMan, but she was truly awful in this surprisingly funny buddy flick. While the rest of her co-stars were good, Sonam gave a very whiny performance that stuck out like a sore thumb.

Salman Khan in Race 3

It is not that everyone else in the film was good (especially Daisy Shah), but it is Salman Khan who gets the most trolled. The actor's charisma is intact and he is good in the action scenes. When it comes to actual acting, though, Salman Khan seems totally disinterested and him trying to speak in a Bihari accent looks ridiculous. Also, we can't forgive him for penning those absurd lyrics in songs, Selfish and I Found Love. Salman Khan's Race 3, Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan - 20 Most Incredible WTF Scenes in 2018's Biggest Movies!

Sanjay Dutt in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3

It is really funny thinking about how Sanjay Dutt made a career playing some memorable gangsters and yet he totally sucked in playing one this year! Sanjay Dutt was unnaturally stiff in the role, and for some reason, Tigmashu Dhulia, the director, also insisted on making him dance! What's the worst was his awkward romance with a much younger Chitrangda Singh that will make you go...

Bobby Deol in Race 3/Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se

Race 3 was to be Bobby Deol's comeback movie, but all it did show was some really unwanted abs on Deol Jr's body and not one expression on his face. As for the other franchise, we are not sure why the makers of YPD insist on making a romantic hero out of him. Hoping that Housefull 4 can do some good for Bobby. Otherwise, there is always DJ-ing!

Jackie Shroff in Paltan

Essentially reprising a similar kind of role that he did in Border (minus the romance and the dog-fighting), Jackie Shroff spent most of his time in the sidelines. And when he does appear on screen, he mumbles up his lines so much that we wish that there were subtitles on screen. Perhaps, Tiger's dad knew that this film is going under the water, and never bothered to actually act!

Aayush Sharma in Loveyatri

To be fair, Aayush Sharma has a charming screen presence, and is not a bad dancer. That said, he is stuck throughout the film with an annoyingly toothy smile, which you can see above, and just mugs through his line. We really don't know if it's his fault. Even Aamir Khan can't do anything much if he is cast in a movie like LoveYatri.

Kajol in Helicopter Eela

Kajol is an incredible actress and we have tonnes of films to prove that. And sometimes, she also has a tendency to put up a grating act once in a while. Unfortunately for her, that tendency raised its head to the fullest in Helicopter Eela. As an overprotective mother, she gets way too loud and animated in her mannerisms. It isn't that she is completely bad in the film. Kajol shines in the quieter moments, but those are far and very few!

Rohan Mehra in Baazaar

As a newcomer, it is extremely hard to shine against an actor like Saif Ali Khan, when the latter is on scenery-chewing mode. Considering that it was supposedly his character's movie, Rohan Mehra needed to have upped his ante and stood up to his senior co-star with a stronger performance. But the debutant not only gives up that attempt within a few minutes itself, but he also nearly threatens to bring down the film with a very monotonous act.

Fatima Sana Shaikh in Thugs of Hindostan

Compared to a wasted Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh at least had a role that mattered and she had some good action scenes. It's only that it took an hour for the movie to finally give her a dialogue. Even then, nothing much happens as she gives a surprisingly blank performance after that. What a let down after that stellar act in Dangal!

Sunny Deol  in Bhaiaji Superhit (also Ameesha Patel)

Sunny Deol had three films this year and all the three tanked horribly. At least, he wasn't bad in two of them - Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se and Mohalla Assi. The same cannot be said about his atrociously hammy performance in Bhaiaji Superhit. Sunny Deol looks clearly uncomfortable trying to tickle our funny bone, and his attempts to pass off as meek is laughable. Meanwhile, Ameesha Patel's awful act reminds you why we see her so less in movies these days!

Do you think we have been unfair in adding these actors on the list? Or you feel that there was space for some more? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
