Ajay Devgn collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a big piece of news until Rohit Shetty decided to ruin our hopes. There was a strong buzz surrounding the actor's reunion with his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam director. While a certain section of media suggested their reunion will be for Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, where he'll play the role of yesteryear don, Haji Mastan, others believed if he'll play the lead in Baiju Bawra. Their comedy franchise is probably the most profitable in the industry currently and there's no reason why they wouldn't collaborate for a next offering. However, with Baiju Bawra locking in the same release date (Diwali 2021), there's no way Ajay would star in both of them. No actor in his sane mind would allow two of his big releases to pit against each other. The idea of Ajay v/s Ajay definitely sounded exciting but some things are better in dreams than reality.
Golmaal Five will lock horns with Deepika Padukone's Mahabharat and Baiju Bawra on Diwali 2020. With Ajay moving out of the picture, we wonder if Bhansali will approach a different actor or delay his dream project. Or chances are Ajay was never approached for it and these reports were, in fact, some baseless rumours. We'll have to wait for an official announcement to clear
