A brand new poster of Akshay Kumar's Gold is out announcing the official release date of the film. Gold, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, is slated to release this Independence Day on August 15. Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut's ambitious Manikarnika will also be coming out on the same date. Akshay is seen holding the Indian flag close to his heart on the newly released poster of the film. He is seen sporting the retro look, the photos of which were released earlier.

Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter to share the poster and captioned it as: "All victories begin with a dream. It fills me with immense joy to present to you the official poster of #Gold, a film that is very close to my heart."

Talking about the film, Ritesh earlier told PTI, "It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story, but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey. It is not based on any character. We have set it in real events so people (often) confuse it with a biopic. It talks about the era in which we achieved Independence and what happened with sports, (primarily) hockey at that time.”

Gold, helmed by Reema Kagti and produced by Excel Entertainment, narrates the tale behind India's first gold medal win in the Olympics for hockey as a free country. Apart from Kumar, the movie also stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Mouni Roy (in her Bollywood debut). The movie is directed by Aamir Khan starrer Talaash maker Reema Kagti and bankrolled by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
