One of the biggest shocks of the 2019 Golden Globe Awards was Glenn Close winning the Best Actress Award from Lady Gaga and Nicole Kidman. Glenn Close won the award for her performance in The Wife. However, before the ceremony started, it was Lady Gaga who was the hot favourite to take the trophy for her scintillating performance in the 2018 remake of the 1937 film, A Star is Born. Lady Gaga had received high critical acclaim for her performance and her songs and she was touted as a hot favourite to win all the major awards. So naturally, her fans are not very happy with the loss, and they have taken to Twitter to troll this snub. The video begins with Lady Gaga awaiting the results of the Best Actress winner, silently praying. When the winner is announced, she immediately gets up and applauds for Close. Interestingly even Bradley Cooper lost out on the Best Director award to Alfonso Cuarón for the latter's Roma. But we don't have many complaints there. However, the biggest surprise was Rami Malek's Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody winning the Best Film award, even though it was one of the least appreciated nominees among the critics.
