The winners of National Film Awards 2019 has been announced today, August 9. The announcement has been made after a delay of almost three months due to Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The head of the jury for Feature Films, Rahul Rawali, announced the 66th National Film Awards. Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal and Keerthy Suresh have bagged the prestigious awards. Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal have won the Best Actor Award and Keerthy Suresh has won the Best Actress Award.

Ayushmann Khurrana won the Best Actor Award for his brilliant performance in the crime thriller, Andhadhun. The film has also won in the category Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film in Hindi Language. Vicky Kaushal won Best Actor Award for Uri: The Surgical Strike. Yes, the Best Actor Award was shared by the handsome hunks of B-town. Besides that the military action film also won in categories such as Best Director (Aditya Dhar), Best Background Music and Best Sound Design. South beauty Keerthy  Suresh took home National Film Award 2019 in the Best Actress category for Mahanati. This film also won in the Best Telugu Film and Best Costume Designer category.

In a press release the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had mentioned, “It has been decided to declare the awards after the election process is over and the Model Code of Conduct concludes.” Every year the recipients of the National Film Awards are announced in April and the presentation ceremony is conducted on May 3.
