Musician Sir Elton John cancelled several sold out shows in Florid due to an ear infection. The 71-year-old was scheduled to perform in Orlando at the Amway Center and Tampa on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. But half-an-hour after showtime, the crowd was informed about the cancellation. Amway Center officials in Orlando announced on Twitter that the singer would not be able to perform due to the illness.

They informed that attendees that the event has been rescheduled and the new dates will be informed soon. Amway Center tweeted saying, "We're sorry to announce that due to an ear infection, Elton John is unable to perform tonight. The rescheduled Orlando date will be announced in the near future so please hold onto your tickets."

Amalie Arena officials said that tickets of the original show will be valid for the rescheduled date. They also mentioned that guests who cannot attend the shows on rescheduled dates will be given a refund at the point of purchase. Elton John is currently on his farewell tour, 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' in which he is performing across the world. It kicked off in the United States in September.

Here is Amalie Arena's tweet on cancellation of Elton John' shows:

The tour consists of more than 300 shows across five continents, including North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia before reaching its conclusion in 2021. After a career spanning of 50 years, these events will mark the star's last-ever tour. After the legalisation of gay marriage in 2014, Elton John married David Furnish with whom he was in a relationship since 1993. The couple has two children Zachary and Elijah, both through surrogacy.
