Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called on Telugu superstar Allu Arjun to expand his cinematic horizons beyond India, suggesting that the actor’s next major milestone should be a career in Hollywood. Speaking at the grand inauguration of "Allu Cinemas" in Hyderabad on Thursday, the Chief Minister praised the actor's global appeal and the rising international influence of the Telugu film industry. ‘AA22xA6’: Title of Allu Arjun and Atlee’s Big-Budget Film To Be Revealed on Icon Star’s Birthday? Here’s What We Know.
Why Did Telagana CM Revanth Reddy Say Allu Arjun Should Work In Hollywood?
During the event, Chief Minister Reddy emphasised that the era of comparing Telugu cinema solely with Bollywood has passed. He noted that the success of recent high-budget films has proven that regional talent can command a worldwide audience.
"In the future, Allu Arjun should excel not only in pan-India films but also in Hollywood," Reddy said during his keynote address. "Our sound—the talent of Telugu actors—should reach there as well."
The Chief Minister noted that for decades, the industry's success was measured against domestic benchmarks. "Till now, we used to compare our Telugu films with Bollywood only in terms of collections," he added. "The Telugu film industry should now be in a position to compete with Hollywood, not just with neighboring states."
Breaking Language Barriers
Reddy highlighted the shifting landscape of modern entertainment, where digital platforms and international distribution have minimised the importance of language in favour of craft. He asserted that "talent is the real factor" behind the industry's current achievements.
"Language barriers in the movie industry disappeared long ago," the Chief Minister stated. "Today, only talent makes the difference."
Government Support for the Arts
The inauguration of the Allu Cinemas theatre complex, a venture by the Allu family, served as a backdrop for the Chief Minister to reiterate the state's commitment to the film fraternity. Reddy assured industry leaders that the Telangana government would extend "full support" to ensure the sector becomes a key pillar of the state’s economic and cultural success story.
The remarks come at a time of unprecedented global visibility for Allu Arjun. Following the massive success of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which shattered box-office records in markets like Japan and the UAE, the actor has increasingly been recognised as a "global star."
Tollywood’s Growing International Footprint
The Chief Minister’s encouragement follows a series of international milestones for the actor. Pushpa 2 recently became the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, trending in the top 10 on global streaming charts across 14 countries. While Allu Arjun has not yet officially announced any international projects, industry analysts suggest that the Pushpa phenomenon has laid the groundwork for such a transition, mirroring the global path taken by other Indian stars like NT Rama Rao Jr and Ram Charan, following the success of RRR.
