R Madhavan is set to make his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect! Although the film was to be directed by Ananth Mahadevan, due to other pressing commitments, he was unable to continue working on the project. With Ananth opting out of the project, actor R Madhavan, who also stars in the film as the touted ISRO scientist, will be taking over the directorial job. This is a big feat for the actor who recently took to the director's chair. It is also his first biopic as he will be playing the ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan.

The actor took to his Instagram to announce the same as he captioned his post, "@NambiNa69586681 So very tough to get to where you are sir, even merely look look-wise .. But doing my very very best ..@rocketryfilm @Tricolourfilm @vijaymoolan" On the same, the actor quoted to Times of India, "Ananth Mahadevan is an extremely talented filmmaker, however, owing to unavoidable circumstances and certain pressing commitments he could no longer direct Rocketry: The Nambi Effect." He further added, "Rocketry is close to my heart for many reasons. The film is shaping up well and I can't wait to tell the incredible story of Mr. Nambi Narayanan to the world."
