Suriya x Mani Ratnam Soon?
Reports indicate that Mani Ratnam is exploring a new film with Suriya after completing his immediate directorial commitments. While neither the filmmaker's production banner, Madras Talkies, nor the actor has issued an official statement, industry speculation suggests the project could mark their second feature together as director and lead actor.
According to a report by entertainment channel Valai Pechu, the project is based on a story concept that Mani Ratnam originally narrated to Suriya approximately eight years ago. The director is now reportedly revamping and updating the script to better suit contemporary themes.
However, sources emphasise that discussions remain preliminary, and the project will ultimately depend on Suriya accepting the updated draft and fitting the film into his shooting schedule.
Suriya-Mani Ratnam's Two-Decade Connection and Future Lineup
The professional history between Suriya and Mani Ratnam dates back to the start of the actor's career. Mani Ratnam produced Suriya's 1997 debut film, Nerukku Ner, under Madras Talkies. They later collaborated directly on Aaytha Ezhuthu (2004), a film inspired by the life of student activist George Reddy, where Suriya starred alongside R.
