As the #MeToo movement spreads down South of India, one of the first ones to be accused of sexual harassment happens to be the celebrated Tamil poet and lyricist, Vairamuthu. The National award-winning film personality had been accused by a couple of women, who remained anonymous, of sexually harassing them by calling them to his home or office, and then trying to get intimate with them. These allegations were supported by singer Chinmayi Sripaadha, who also shared her own #MeToo story about Vairamuthu, while leading an attack on him on social media. National Award-Winning Lyricist Vairamuthu Comes Under The Radar of #MeToo Movement; Accused of Forcibly Hugging, Kissing a Girl.

Now after the heat on him became too much, Vairamuthu has now responded to these on Twitter. Tweeting in Tamil, Vairamuthu claimed that it is becoming a practice of spreading rumours about celebs and that he has often been humiliated before. So basically the poet was trying to play the victim card here. This is what his tweet somewhat translates to, "The act of spreading rumours about well-known personalities is now all over the country. Many times, I have been constantly humiliated; This is one of them. I do not regard anything but the truth; only time will tell the truth." #MeToo in Bollywood: Aamir Khan Meets the Producers Guild of India to Discuss Guidelines for Women's Safety.

Not soo after he put out the tweet, Chinmayi put up the below tweets -

While most of the Tamil celebs have been silent on the Vairamuthu sexual harassment allegations, actor Siddharth has been lending big support to Chinmayi and the unnamed victims on social media.
