Yash Breaks Silence on ‘Toxic’ Postponement and ‘Dhurandhar’ Clash, Prioritises THIS Over Box Office Numbers
Superstar Yash breaks his silence on the postponements of 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' and the rumored clash with Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. On 'Aap Ki Adalat', Yash clarifies his focus is on delivering an exceptional film for grown-ups, not monetary concerns.
Rocking Star Yash, in a candid interaction on Rajat Sharma's popular show Aap Ki Adalat, has finally opened up about the numerous postponements of his much-anticipated film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, and the buzz about it avoiding a box office showdown with the blockbuster sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The actor firmly stated that his choices are rooted in self-respect and a dedication to delivering quality cinema, rather than evading competition or fearing monetary setbacks. Yash on ‘Toxic’ Delay and ‘Dhurandhar’ Clash
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was initially slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. This date coincided with the release of Aditya Dhar's directorial, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the sequel to the highly successful Dhurandhar. The first instalment, Dhurandhar, released on December 5, 2025, and reportedly amassed over INR 1,300 crore worldwide. However, the makers of Toxic later deferred its release to June 4, 2026, citing “uncertainty in the Middle East” as the reason. The film was subsequently postponed again and is now confirmed for a worldwide release on August 26, 2026.
Yash clarified that he never intentionally chose to compete with another film, asserting that his film's release date was announced first. “Whatever clashes you are talking about, I have never directly gone into a clash. My date would have been announced first, and if someone comes after that, then it becomes a clash,” he explained.
He admitted to initial confusion regarding the March 19 release plan but stressed that box office losses do not faze him. "People think losing INR 100 crore or INR 200 crore can affect me. No, sir, we had nothing in our pockets. Whatever we have now is a bonus. There's so much surplus in life, of both love and success. There's no fear of all that. The fear is of not delivering the product I promised to the people," Yash articulated. He further emphasised that the decision to move Toxic from the March 19 slot was a matter of "self-respect" rather than an attempt to protect his image or ego.
Defending 'Toxic's' Themes
During his appearance on Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat, Yash robustly defended Toxic against criticisms regarding its adult themes, intimate scenes, and 'A' certification. He clarified that the film is strictly for an adult audience, a sentiment echoed in its tagline, 'A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups'.
“Vulgarity is wrong. I haven't even kissed in the film, if you’ve noticed,” Yash stated, addressing allegations of 'vulgarity' head-on. He elaborated that the visual treatment and artistic presentation play a crucial role, emphasising the thin line between vulgarity and aesthetic storytelling.
He further explained that the film is aimed at Gen Z and seeks to raise uncomfortable questions about societal taboos, particularly concerning women expressing their desires and fantasies. "Art has to ask uncomfortable questions and take you to the deepest corners of your mind," he remarked, asserting the film's intent to explore complex aspects of human nature.
