New Delhi, July 31: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Lokayukta have given a clean chit to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a bribery case. The CBI found no substantial evidence against Arvind Kejriwal and didn't launch a formal probe. Since the CBI found nothing in its initial inquiry, the Lokayukta too closed the case against the chief minister.

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Kapil Mishra alleged that he had seen Kejriwal accepting Rs 2 crore cash from Satyendar Jain. The Lokayukta asked Mishra to share the evidence against Kejriwal, but he said he would submit those proofs to CBI. However, the CBI informed the Lokayukta that there was no evidence against the AAP chief, reported Times of India.

Since the CBI didn't produce any evidence against Kejriwal, the Lokayukta then closed the complaint. Mishra was on May 6 sacked by the AAP as a minister in the Delhi government, citing poor performance. A day later, the sacked AAP leader made allegations of corruption against Kejriwal and Jain. Mishra was suspended from the party on May 8.

Mishra had filed a complaint with CBI and the Lokyaukta and even recorded his statement with the latter. But he didn’t submit any evidence. Mishra has since then been protesting and levelling allegations of corruption against Kejriwal and Jain.
