New Delhi, July 31: The Railway Recruitment Board is reportedly going to release the admit card for the recruitment to Group C, D posts soon. As has been the trend before, the board is expected to release the admit card four days before the examination. The first stage of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be held from August 9. The candidates can download the admit card, once the card is released.
The candidates can download the admit card from the official website of the Railway Board, at indianrailways.gov.in. For the purpose of training the students, the board has also activated the mock test link on July 26. The candidates will have to log on through their user id and password in order to practice the online mock tests.
According to a report in the Indian Express, around 1.5 crore candidates have applied for the available jobs which is roughly one lakh. The notification for the same was released in March. The examination was initially supposed to take place in the month of March and April.
Syllabus and Paper Pattern for the RRB Group Exam
The RRB exam paper is divided in four sections namely: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness.
The Mathematics section will have topics such as Number system, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM, HCF, ratio and proportion and percentages and other senior higher secondary school level mathematics.
The General Intelligence and Reasoning section will cover topics such as Analogies, coding and decoding, syllogism, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision making as well as arguments and assumptions.
The General Science section will have questions on physics, chemistry and life sciences of class 10.
General Awareness section will contain questions on current affairs in science, technology, sports, culture, personalities and other important topics.
According to media reports, for the candidates to qualify, they need to secure a minimum of 42 marks in each of the sections. This criteria is applicable to all the students without any relaxation on any grounds.
The merit list will then be drawn from the candidates who qualify in the aptitude tests. 70 per cent weightage will be assigned for marks scored in part A of second stage CBT. And 30 per cent weightage will be assigned for marks scored in computer based AT.
The question papers will be made available to the candidates in 15 different languages.
About the paper pattern, the duration available with the students will be 60 minutes. The paper will have 75 multiple-choice questions and one-third marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. More than two crore candidates had applied for the 90,000 posts in Group C and Group D. There are 9,500 openings in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) as well.
