New Delhi, September 16:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted saying that the special gesture shown by US President Donald Trump of offering to join Howdy, Modi event highlights the strength of the relationship between the two countries.  Modi further added said, "Delighted that President Donald Trump will join the community programme in Houston on the September 22. Looking forward to joining the Indian origin community in welcoming him at the programme. It highlights the strength of the relationship and recognition of the contribution of the Indian community to American society and economy. "

White House earlier in the day confirmed that US President Donald Trump will be joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the mega event in Houston.  Notably, this would be the third meeting between PM Modi and Trump within a span of few weeks after the G20 and G7 summits. Over 50,000 Indian-Americans from the United States have registered for the mega event "Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures" at the Sprawling NRG Stadium. The White House in a statement said the gathering is "a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world's oldest and largest democracies and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship."
