Mumbai, April 9: Prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukherjea was admitted to Bycula’s JJ hospital around 11:15 PM on Friday in a semi-conscious condition. Doctors of the hospital after examining her blood samples suspect a drug overdose as the main cause of her illness.

Dr Sudhir Nanandkar, Dean of JJ Hospital, said, "Presently, the basic-level provisional diagnosis is of a drug overdose. It was said that she was on anti-depressants, but it has not been confirmed. We are awaiting a report on blood, urine and stomach wash from the Forensic Science Laboratory. We should get it by tomorrow. An X-ray of her lungs has shown a patch and an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of her brain has shown some micro-infarcts (localised area of dead tissue due to failure of blood supply). She has fever," reported NDTV. Dr Nanandkar further confirmed that there was improvement in Indrani’s condition and her blood pressure was also normal. She was in a conscious state. According to Dr Nanandkar, jail authorities gave medicines to Indrani without any prescription at regular intervals.

As reported by NDTV, one of the doctors demanded police investigation to know the exact cause of Indrani’s ill health and police should question jail authorities. Indrani was arrested by police for allegedly murdering her own daughter, Sheena Bora. Shena was kidnapped and murdered on April 24, 2012. Indrani Mukherjee, her former husband and driver Shyamvar rai were arrested in connection with the murder. Indrani’s husband was also arrested by police in November 2015 in connection with the murder.
