Lucknow, April 6: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday transferred 21 IPS (Indian Police Service) officers in the state.  On March 18, the Yogi Adityanath-led government had transferred at least 43 IPS officers with new postings. The 43 officers include five commissioners and District Magistrates (DM) of 17 districts including Gorakhpur DM Rajiv Rautela.

In the last month, along with the transfer of 43 IPS officers, 37 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers were also transferred. Five commissioners, Gorakhpur District Magistrate (DM) Rajiv Rautela, including DM of 17 districts were changed. In a list released on Friday, K Vijayendra Pandian was brought in place of Rajiv Rautela as new Gorakhpur DM, while Rautela was made the divisional commissioner of Devipatan division.

As per reports by ANI, Deepak Agarwal, Commissioner of Saharanpur Division, was made the new divisional commissioner of Varanasi. Replacing Deepak Agarwal, Chandra Prakash Tripathi was made the new Saharanpur divisional commissioner. The incident came to light after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lost the by-polls in Gorakhpur and Phulpur to Samajwadi Party (SP).
