The High Grounds police in Bengaluru have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an X account holder, identified as Kiran Aradhya, for allegedly disseminating misleading and provocative content concerning the recent murder case at the Bantwal bus stand. The legal action follows a formal complaint lodged by Kushal Haruve Gowda, the vice-president of the Bengaluru West District Congress Committee.
As per a report by The Hindu, the case was filed on Saturday under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The complainant asserts that the social media post was published without reference to any official investigation reports, court orders, or verifiable evidence. Allegations of Misinformation
The complaint contends that the accused falsely claimed the state government intended to protect the suspects involved in the murder. Such assertions, according to the DCC representative, have the potential to mislead the public, spread misinformation, and destabilise communal harmony, law, and order in the region.
