In Maharashtra, the ban on plastic comes into effect from today. Wholesalers, distributors, retailers and consumers will be barred from using all forms of plastic bags and storage items. The violators would be charged Rs 5,000 for first offence, followed by Rs 10,000 for second offence and Rs 25,000 and 3 months in prison for third violation.
