The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a major relief for Aadhaar card holders by extending the free online document update facility on the myAadhaar portal for another year. Citizens can now update their Aadhaar documents online without paying any fee until June 14, 2027.

The decision was confirmed through an official memorandum issued on May 13, 2026. UIDAI stated that the extension was granted following an overwhelming response from Aadhaar users who have been actively updating their details through the online platform.

Free Aadhaar Document Update Available Till June 2027

The free document update service was earlier scheduled to end soon. However, UIDAI has now extended the facility from June 15, 2026, to June 14, 2027. According to the official memorandum, "It has been decided to extend the facility for one more year, i.e., from June 15, 2026, to June 14, 2027. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost through myAadhaar portal up to June 14, 2027."

New Aadhaar App to Replace mAadhaar App

UIDAI has also announced significant changes to its mobile services. New Aadhaar App Sees Strong Adoption

The government has revealed that the new Aadhaar app has witnessed impressive adoption, crossing 21 million downloads within just three months of its launch.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the app has made Aadhaar services more accessible by allowing users to update information directly from their smartphones.

Official data shows that more than 2.8 million users have already updated their mobile numbers through the new Aadhaar app, while nearly 6 lakh users have successfully updated their addresses.

Aadhaar Services Now Easier Than Ever

The new Aadhaar app is available on both Android and iOS platforms, enabling users to manage their Aadhaar details anytime and anywhere. With the extension of the free document update facility and the rollout of the upgraded Aadhaar app, UIDAI aims to encourage citizens to keep their Aadhaar information accurate and up to date.
