Five Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been suspended after a Deputy Station Superintendent alleged he was assaulted during a dispute over halting the Hirakund Express to assist an injured passenger at Uttar Pradesh's Agra Cantt railway station. The Railways has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.

The confrontation took place during the train's scheduled halt and triggered commotion at the station, with passengers and railway staff witnessing the clash between officials from two railway departments.

Dispute Began Over Injured Passenger

According to railway officials, the Deputy Station Superintendent decided to keep the Hirakund Express at the platform after receiving information that a passenger had been injured and required assistance.

The decision allegedly led to an argument with RPF personnel, which soon escalated into a physical confrontation.

Both Sides Allege Assault

The Deputy Station Superintendent alleged that RPF personnel pushed him to the ground, assaulted him and attempted to drag him away from the station. However, RPF constable Jitendra also accused the Deputy Station Superintendent of assault. Railway authorities are examining CCTV footage from the station to establish the sequence of events.

Five RPF Personnel Suspended

The Railways constituted a three-member inquiry committee on July 12 to investigate the incident. Based on preliminary findings, RPF Inspector Surendra Chaudhary, ASI Meghraj Meena, ASI Balkishan, constable Jitendra and constable Badan Singh have been suspended with immediate effect.

Inquiry Underway

Railway authorities said the inquiry committee is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. Further departmental and legal action, if required, will be taken after the panel submits its report.

The probe will determine the circumstances that led to the confrontation and whether any officials exceeded their authority.
