Chhatarpur, January 4: Bageshwar Dham witnessed a historic spiritual gathering on Saturday night as renowned preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Maharaj, led a grand recitation of the Satyanarayan Katha. The event saw the participation of nearly 11,000 devotees, making it one of the largest collective recitations of the sacred katha ever held in India.

Organised under three massive sheds spread across 50,000 square feet, the programme brought together devotees who sat with akshat (sacred rice grains) in their hands, listening attentively to the कथा with deep devotion. The event was further sanctified by the presence of Shrikant Mishra, chief priest of Baba Vishwanath, who attended along with his family. Traditionally, the Satyanarayan Katha is performed within homes on auspicious occasions or after the fulfillment of wishes, usually in the presence of family members and close relatives. The unprecedented scale at Bageshwar Dham marked a significant departure from this custom, reflecting the growing collective faith of devotees.

During his address, Bageshwar Maharaj spoke at length about the power of truth and righteousness. Citing an episode from the Mahabharata, he reminded devotees that victory is not determined by numbers but by divine grace. “The world stands firmly on truth,” he said, urging people to follow the path of सत्य (truth) in their daily lives.

The event has further strengthened Bageshwar Dham’s position as a major spiritual centre, drawing devotees from across the country and setting a new benchmark for collective religious participation.
