Fear Spreads In Laliyana Village After Rabies Death

Health Officials Clarify How Rabies Spreads
PHC in-charge Selekshi said 55 people were administered anti-rabies injections at the health centre on Tuesday. She clarified that rabies does not spread through ordinary contact with an infected person.
According to health officials, rabies is primarily transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, particularly when saliva enters broken skin or mucous membranes. People who are bitten or scratched by an animal should seek medical attention immediately and complete the recommended post-exposure vaccination.
Doctors Urge People Not To Ignore Dog Bites
Health officials urged residents not to ignore animal bites or scratches. Immediate medical treatment and timely post-exposure vaccination can prevent rabies from developing after exposure.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of seeking prompt medical care after a dog bite, even if the wound initially appears minor. Rabies is a potentially fatal disease once symptoms develop but can be prevented with timely medical intervention after exposure.
