Bengaluru, December 30: The Bengaluru City Police have issued a comprehensive set of guidelines for New Year 2026 celebrations, establishing a 1:00 AM deadline for all parties and commercial events. City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed that hotels, pubs, and event organizers must strictly adhere to venue capacity limits to ensure public safety and prevent overcrowding on city streets.
To prevent the chaos of previous years, the police have mandated that establishments display "House Full" signs once they reach their holding capacity. Commissioner Singh emphasized that businesses are prohibited from allowing revelers to wait on pavements or outside venues once capacity is reached. "If their venue is full, they must display a board saying entry is closed," Singh told reporters. "We have told them that they should not ask the revelers to wait outside or on the pavements."
Mandatory Licensing and Noise Control
Organizers hosting events at unlicensed venues are required to obtain a temporary license, which will be valid from 6:00 AM on December 31 until 1:00 AM on January 1.
Furthermore, separate permissions are required for the use of sound systems. Establishments must strictly follow designated noise limits and ensure that no crackers or explosives are used inside commercial premises. Enhanced Security and Surveillance
The department has made CCTV surveillance mandatory for all hosting venues. Key requirements include:
- Storage: Footage must be stored for at least 30 days.
- Integration: Road-facing cameras must be linked to the police command center.
- Staffing: All security personnel must be PSARA-registered, and details of DJs and bouncers must be submitted to the police in advance.
- Frisking: Mandatory security screening for all entrants, with female staff required for the frisking of women and children.
Public Safety and Narcotics Prohibitions
A "zero-tolerance" policy regarding narcotics has been established. Venues must display "No Narcotic Substances" signage and report any suspicious activity immediately. Illegal private and rave parties remain strictly banned.
Additionally, bars and hotels are responsible for the safe return of their guests. Roadside parking is prohibited, and establishments are encouraged to manage parking internally to avoid traffic congestion.
