A biker narrowly escaped being crushed by a tanker during a turn on CDP Road in Bengaluru's Varthur area after his motorcycle became trapped beneath the heavy vehicle. The rider managed to jump clear moments before the tanker ran over the bike. A video of the incident, shared across social media platforms, has since prompted discussion about road safety and the risks faced by two-wheeler riders around heavy vehicles.

The incident occurred as the tanker was making a left turn while the biker was travelling alongside it, India Today reported. The tanker appeared to continue its turn without noticing the motorcycle, gradually pushing it towards the vehicle's wheels. Biker Narrowly Escapes Being Crushed By Tanker in Bengaluru

Biker Jumps Clear As Motorcycle Gets Trapped

The video shows the tanker turning left as the motorcycle moves alongside the vehicle. As the turn continues, the motorcycle appears to be pushed towards the tanker. The bike then tilts and becomes caught under the heavy vehicle.

The rider manages to get off and jump clear just before the tanker passes over the motorcycle. He is subsequently seen standing a short distance away as the tanker runs over the bike, crushing it beneath its wheels before continuing down the road.

Tanker Had No Number Plate

The tanker did not have a number plate, making it difficult to immediately identify the vehicle involved in the incident. Locals reportedly chased after the tanker following the incident. A complaint has now been registered in connection with the case. Further details about the identity of the tanker driver and any action taken against the vehicle were not immediately available.

The video has prompted Bengaluru residents to discuss the risks faced by two-wheeler riders on the city's roads, particularly when travelling alongside large commercial vehicles.

The incident has also renewed attention on the importance of maintaining visibility and situational awareness when heavy vehicles make turns.

Large vehicles have significant blind spots, particularly around their sides and rear sections. A motorcycle travelling close to a turning tanker can therefore be difficult for a driver to see.

One person said riding across Bengaluru had become increasingly frightening because of the condition of the roads and the way heavy vehicles were driven, while another specifically pointed to tankers and school buses, alleging that some drivers drove dangerously during the morning rush.

Another user said incidents like this showed how ordinary people could end up suffering in everyday situations when they had little recourse against reckless drivers. Others, on the other hand, discussed how this was documented proof that a heavy vehicle could become life-threatening if the driver doesn't maintain situational awareness.
