The incident sparked immediate fury among local residents, triggering widespread arson, vandalism, and clashes with responding police forces.
Following the fatal crash, an enraged mob gathered on the busy highway, halting vehicular movement and setting the offending bus ablaze. Passengers on board managed to flee the vehicle safely before the flames engulfed it. When police units from multiple local stations arrived at the scene to restore order, they were met with severe stone-pelting from members of the crowd. Firefighters dispatched to douse the burning bus also faced difficulties reaching the spot due to the hostile atmosphere and road blockades.
Additional security personnel, including senior district administration officials, were subsequently deployed to disperse the protesters and clear the arterial stretch. Traffic on NH-30 remained paralyzed for hours, causing extensive gridlock across the Patna City corridor.
Highway stretches passing through densely populated semi-urban zones around Patna have seen frequent clashes following road accidents, often fueled by local grievances over reckless driving and inadequate traffic safety measures. Police officials stated that extra security forces have been stationed in the area to prevent further escalation. Authorities are currently reviewing video footage and local surveillance recordings to identify key individuals involved in arson and stone-pelting, while a case has been registered regarding the fatal accident.
