Five women caregivers at Little Elly Daycare, operating inside the Capgemini HAL campus in Bengaluru, have been booked after allegations of abuse involving toddlers surfaced. According to police, children between the ages of two and three were allegedly made to sit inside the drum of a front-loading washing machine, had water sprayed into their mouths with a toilet jet spray and were locked inside bathrooms as punishment when they cried.

The allegations came to light after videos purportedly showing the abuse went viral on social media. The incident has led to a police case and a separate complaint before the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, while Capgemini has temporarily shut the daycare facility pending the investigation.

According to officials, the alleged abuse involved multiple forms of punishment inflicted on toddlers. "The toddlers were made to sit in washing machines, water was sprayed into their mouths and they were locked inside bathrooms to silence them when they cried," said an official. Police have registered a case against five women caregivers associated with the daycare.

The allegations gained widespread attention after videos purportedly showing the incidents circulated on social media. Following the videos, parents approached the police, and a complaint was also submitted to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Authorities are investigating the authenticity of the videos and the allegations against the caregivers.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents who entrusted the daycare with the care of their children while working at Capgemini. The allegations have also renewed concerns about the safety standards, supervision and monitoring of childcare facilities operating within corporate campuses.

Capgemini Temporarily Closes Daycare

In response to the allegations, Capgemini announced the temporary closure of its on-campus daycare facility. In a statement, the company said: "Capgemini's foremost priority is the health, safety and well-being of its employees and their families. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in their efforts to establish the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru on-campus daycare facility." The investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
