Chitrakoot Gang-Rape: All 3 Accused Arrested Following Police Action and Encounter

The incident occurred on July 22, when a 20-year-old woman went on a forest hike with her 17-year-old friend in the Devangana Valley, located within the jurisdiction of the Bahilpurwa police station. According to police officials, three men riding a motorcycle approached the pair, falsely identifying themselves as forest department officials.

The suspects began demanding money and attempted to blackmail the visitors. When the victims refused to comply, the suspects assaulted the male friend, tying his hands and feet. They then dragged the young woman into the nearby bushes and gang-raped her. When she resisted, the assailants beat her severely and threatened her with dire consequences before fleeing the scene. Gorakhpur Shocker: Minor Boy Rapes 9-Month-Old Infant in UP; Cops Find 50 Obscene Videos on Accused's Phone.

Police Action and Arrests Following Encounter

Following the assault, the victim managed to contact emergency services via dial-112. Police personnel promptly arrived at the location, secured the scene, and registered a case against unidentified perpetrators at the Bahilpurwa police station based on the victim's official complaint. Multiple special police units were immediately dispatched to track down the suspects.

On Saturday, operational intelligence placed the three suspects near the forest area of Madfa, within the Bhartikuup police station limits. Joint teams from the Bhartikuup Special Operations Group (SOG) and Bahilpurwa police surrounded the area.

During the operation, the prime accused, identified as Jitendra alias Bhola, attempted to escape in a CD Deluxe vehicle and opened fire on the approaching police force. In retaliatory firing by the police, Jitendra sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was taken into custody.

His two accomplices, identified as Praveen and Vivek, managed to flee the initial confrontation but were tracked down late Sunday night near the Shivrampur Machhariya intersection following a tip-off from an informant.

Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh stated that the case initially offered no immediate leads, but law enforcement acted swiftly to deliver justice. "The gang rape of the young woman was completely blind, and within 48 hours, we identified and arrested all three accused through CCTV footage, tip-offs, and surveillance," said SP Arun Kumar Singh. All three accused are currently in police custody as legal proceedings move forward.
