Gurugram, October 12: A Class 10 girl in Gurugram killed herself under panic after receiving a hoax call from a relative. The caller told the victim that her parents, who were out on work, have been murdered by him. He allegedly threatened to assassinate her as well. Gripped with fear, the 15-year-old decided to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan.
The suicide was reported on Wednesday night, said officials of the Sadar police station, under whose jurisdiction the case falls. An investigator, while speaking to reporters, said the victim's house is located in Naharpur Rupa village. Based on the FIR registered by the deceased's father, the police has booked the caller under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The accused was yet to be arrested, said inspector Arjun Dhundhara, adding that a search operation has been launched to nab him at the earliest.
The complainant has alleged that the "murder" was planned by his relative as he had a personal grudge against him since the past few years. In order to take revenge from him for a recent altercation, the accused terrified his daughter to death, the bereaved father claimed.
