Delhi, October 1: Not only smoking a cigarette, but holding it became a threat to life for two youth in Delhi's Connaught Place. Two fashion designing professionals had never thought that refusing to share a cigarette can become injurious to their lives. According to a report in The Hindu, when two youths, identified as Gaurav Patiyal and Rohit Bisht, were simply smoking a cigarette in Connaught Place's A-Block area when a stranger approached them for sharing a cigarette. Gaurav refused to the man as he was not having any extra cigarettes with him. However, the refusal didn't go well with the man and he started abusing them and threatened them that he will come back and teach them a lesson.

After some time the stranger came back with some of his fellow friends and started attacking them. Gaurav was attacked in his face, while Bisht was attacked with an Iron rod.

“He came back with two other men and attacked us. One of them was wearing a knuckleduster. He attacked Rohit on the face, while the other man hit him with an iron rod. Gaurav said that the attackers kept beating Bisht until he collapsed, with heavy bleeding from his head and face. Hearing the commotion, the other staff members arrived at the spot. However, the attackers fled from the spot.

The police have registered an FIR under IPC Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) at Connaught Place police station and have also started an investigation on the assault.
