Delhi, April 22: A Delhi police official reportedly thrashed and abused a local journalist in the national capital. The police official is an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) rank officer. According to Mirror Now report, the incident took place on April 14, when the journalist from West Delhi was covering an incident. India Ranks 14th Among Nations With Worst Record of Punishing Journalist Killers in CPJ’s Global Impunity Index.

The cop who was deployed on the duty as the first responder asked the identity of the journalist. Even after showing his identity card to the cop, the accused thrashed the scribe. This is not a first time, many such incidents are reported in the past as well. Earlier, in a similar incident from Pune, a 24-year-old journalist from Jammu and Kashmir was beaten. The incident took place after the Pulwama terror attack. The journalist was allegedly thrashed by two people. After the police complaint was filed, the attacker apologised to the journalist.
