Earlier this year, a four-year-old boy in Karnataka’s Raichur district was also seriously injured in a stray dog attack. The boy, identified as Gopal, was playing near his house in Maliyabad in Raichur city when a stray dog allegedly attacked him.
The animal allegedly pounced on the child, dragged him and repeatedly bit him on the head. The attack caused severe injuries and tore away most of the boy’s scalp.
Visuals from the incident showed Gopal’s head covered in blood following the attack. Most of his scalp had reportedly been ripped off, with only a portion at the back remaining attached. His face was also stained with blood. The Raichur incident, like the latest attack in Kalaburagi, highlighted concerns over the risks posed by stray dogs to children in residential areas.
The latest incident has prompted residents of Meenahabal to seek stronger measures from local authorities to address the stray dog population.
