Mumbai, April 27: With the end of campaigning for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019, the sale of liquor will be banned for the next 48 hours in constituencies going for polls on April 29. The ban will be continued till the conclusion of voting in the respective constituencies. Dry days are observed because of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which is imposed for conducting fair elections. The ban on the sale of alcohol will start from 5 pm on Saturday and would continue till 6 pm on Monday.

The voting in Phase 4 will take place on April 29. A total of 72 seats, spread across nine states, are set to go polls on Monday. The polling will be conducted for 17 parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra. In Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, 13 seats each will be contested in the fourth round. In West Bengal, nine constituencies would go to polls, followed by the six each in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, 5 in Bihar, 3 in Jharkhand and one in Jammu & Kashmir. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Phase 4 Campaigning Ends, 72 Seats Set to Go to Polls on Monday.

For smooth conduct of the polls, a total of 1,40,849 polling booths have been earmarked by the Election Commission. Among key candidates in the fray are senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh and CPI's Kanhaiya Kumar, who would be squaring off in Bihar's Begusarai. In Odisha, former BJD leader Baijayant Panda is contesting from on the BJP ticket. In Mumbai, where seven seats are being contested, the key contest is between Congress' Milind Deora and Shiv Sena's sitting MP Arvind Sawant in Mumbai South. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule: Voting In 7 Phases From April 11 to May 19.

The voting for the fourth phase of Odisha Assembly Elections 2019 will also take place along with the fourth phase of parliamentary polls. The results will be declared on May 23 after the final round of voting.
